20 - 27 August 2019

Arriving on Tuesday 20 August into Reykjavik, Challenge Iceland 2019 offers the most spectacular scenery – eight days of Iceland’s dramatic landscape from lava fields, waterfalls and glaciers to spouting geysers and whale watching.

Entry cost is USD6,800 (including 7 nights’ accommodation, ground transfers, meals, experienced challenge leaders, medical support and sightseeing activities as per the itinerary). The challenge is open to all abilities but we strongly recommend training and a good level of fitness.

The Cause: UN Women UK

HER Planet Earth and Just Challenge are committed to creating a world where environmental integrity and women empowerment can prosper. Challenge Iceland 2019 will raise funds and awareness for UN Women UK - a foundation dedicated to empowering women globally by removing the barriers that prevent women and girls from achieving their potential.

Each participant will be tasked with raising funds for UN Women UK. All funds raised will go towards projects that help underprivileged women affected by climate change - focused on the economic empowerment of women in rural areas of Asia, notably in Bangladesh, Nepal and Vietnam - supporting the belief that women have the right and the need to be at the forefront of efforts to deal with climate change.

HER Planet Earth is a non-profit organisation which aims to promote a deeper connection between women empowerment and the integrity of the environment.

“While climate change is a global phenomenon, its impact is not spread across a level playing field. Its effects are felt locally, and poor people suffer the most. Among the world’s 1.3 billion people living in poverty, the majority are women. Join me on this incredible adventure to one of the most scenic places on earth, and raise valuable funds to support underprivileged women, ultimately helping them transform their livelihoods so that they can become more resilient to climate change.”
